As a beginner getting started in cybersecurity , you come across this popular term known as the CIA Triad or the pillars of cybersecurity , comprises of Confidentiality, Integrity and Authenticity.

Confidentiality

This ensures that a message or a resource is accessed by authorised user only. Confidentiality ensures the rules of data accessibility are in place. Take a popular messaging service like WhatsApp, confidentiality ensures that the message sent to user A cannot be accessed by messages sent to user B.

Integrity

Every message you send should appear the way you type the information. Image you send "Hi" to user A and user A sees it as "Hi user A". This means the integrity of the message has failed. Integrity ensures the message is not susceptible to unauthorized changes. Usage of proper checksums ensures that the message changes are detected and a proper measures can be in place.

Availability

Availability ensures that when a user wants to send a message to user A. The messaging platform or the portal is available/accessible throughout the messaging session. Preventing the platform from DDoS attacks or unauthorized access or maintaining redudant storage disks to prevent overflow of messages ensures availabilitiy of platform
